Is it something that you can get year round? the video made it look like a seasonal or "special occasion" sort of thing.

It's preferred in cold weather, though i have yet to receive an explanation for why. It's definitely special, kinda hard to find. Like frog legs in america, if you're in to it you can find a place that sells it.

Good. The person in the video is spot on, the fact that China still eats dogs is embarrassing.

Why is this embarrassing? There are places that think eating cows or pigs is pretty awful. As for eating pets, western countries eat rabbits and horse, just to name a few things.

I knew somebody would call me on the "why", haha.
Part of it is perception (the rest of the modern world sees dogs as minor members of the family, not food), but part of it is also that we've spent hundreds of years breeding dogs to be intelligent...we haven't done this for cows and pigs (btw, I don't think we should eat those either).

Look jackass not every lives in the modern Scottsdale and has Lamborghini's buzzing around the neighborhood . China is still very much a developing country. In rural China their protein options are limited . I would rather see people get some protein so they can have proper brain development than to succumb to western standard that we should keep little dogs in a purse and let them shit all over the living room carpet.

Umm...hello? Chicken are probably the cheapest and easiest livestock to raise.

The intelligence thing is a decent point. Are you a vegetarian?

Not a vegetarian, but I don't eat mammals...

I refuse to eat platypus because they frighten me.

Upvoted for mentioning the platypus.

Yeah, China is trying to improve their image.

I suspect they're quickly going to devolve into some crazed nationalistic frenzy.

Filipino's love 'black dog'(like labradors), but then again filipino cuisine will make one gag. a delicacy is half formed chicken embryos simply sucked out of the egg.
