I'm still waiting to see how this thing fleshes out. Last time this happened (with AT&T), the internet went insane, and it turned out that they were just getting DDOSd. That said, I'd hate to work at Verizon right now. Reply to this |

If anybody is unfamiliar with it (knowing the audience here, I'm going to assume that is pretty much everybody), 4chan is an "image board", a website where users post images, then comment on them. 4chan is notable, however, because of its size, and it's anonymitiy. There are no usernames, you can either make up a username at the time of posting, or you can post as "anonymous". 4chan's most popular secion by a wide margin is called "/b/", and it is described as "random". The images posted on this section are can frequently include pornography, gore, and sometimes child pornography (which is immediately removed by moderators [there was a lengthy discussion about this by a former moderator from that website. He said that they have a system that hashes every image that is uploaded to the board, then checks newly uploaded images agains the hash-store. If the hash matches that of a previously banned image, the photo is automatically removed]). Verizon's ban of this website is likely due to the common perception that illegal images are freqeuntly being posted to it. This claim is mostly false. Reply to this |
