the Iranians are nobody's fools. they know that no one will attack, the price is just too high. are the western nations afraid of the repercussions of appeasement? possibly, but concerned enough to start yet another attack on a Muslim country? and the height of hypocrasy, such a brouhaha over a bomb while Israel has hundreds. does anyone trully think the Iranians are willing to commit suicide? and who's to tell how much of this saber rattling is a direct response to CIA and others direct attempts to destabilise the country? at the same time they arm and finance Hamas, the Israelis(and, of course, the US) support the revolutionaries. onerous snctions are imposed, including stopping, searching and confiscating shipping in Iranian waters! (doesn't help, the n koreans shipping arms though, but hell, the russians have been doing this for decades) having Palin make the point to attack Iran is the best thing that could happen. while many politicians may fear her populism, none take anything she says concerning world politics seriously. she made sure of that from the start. my guess is that this is just a finger in the wind, a guage as to what the lunatic fringe believes. nothing is going to change including the rhetoric(Clinton's inane statement of military dictatorship- D'oh, or their continuing quest for the bomb, as if they haven't bought a dozen from korea years ago) so much sound and fury, I wonder where the real action is taking place? has the world ever had so many different flash points?
